Works help

Answers to the questions people ask most when uploading a work. If yours is not here, write to us through the [contact page](/contact).

1

What is accepted

Works lists web projects built with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex: small games, tools, visualisations and experiments are all welcome.

  • The work must be your own, or something you have the right to publish.
  • It needs an address starting with https:// that anyone can open.
  • It must be playable without an account. Remove sign-in or registration features, or submit a version that needs none.
  • Works with illegal, infringing, sexual, violent or deceptive content are not accepted. The rules are in the terms of use.

How to upload

Open the upload page. If you are not signed in, you are asked to sign in to your onomeo account first. Then:

  • Enter the address of the work. onomeo checks straight away whether the site can be played inside onomeo; the result does not stop you submitting.
  • If it can, a video is optional: visitors see the work itself. Without a video, upload a cover screenshot instead: JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 2 MB.
  • If it cannot, upload a screen recording: up to 60 seconds and 50 MB, in MP4, WebM or MOV. Visitors watch the recording first and press Play to open your site in a new tab. With a recording, its first frame becomes the cover.
  • Allow direct play on onomeo is ticked by default. Untick it and visitors see only the recording or the cover, and Play takes them to your site.
  • Add a title (up to 40 characters). A one-line description (up to 100 characters), the AI tools you used (up to 5), how it was made (up to 500 characters) and a source code address are optional.
  • Tick This work can be played without an account, then press Submit. Each account may upload up to 3 works a day, counted in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Recording a video under 60 seconds

No special software is needed; the recorders built into the computer work well:

  • Windows:press Win + Alt + R to start or stop recording (Xbox Game Bar). The file is saved in Videos, in the Captures folder.
  • Mac:press Shift + Command + 5, choose Record Selected Portion and frame the browser window. The file is saved to the desktop.
  • Free tools such as OBS Studio work too.

A few tips:

  • Record in landscape and frame only the work inside the browser, not the desktop or other windows.
  • Start while the work is already running: the first few seconds are what visitors see first.
  • Check the length and size afterwards: anything over 60 seconds or 50 MB is refused. If the file is too large, export it again at a lower resolution.

Letting your work play on onomeo

onomeo opens your work on the same screen by embedding the page, which only works if your site allows other sites to embed it. onomeo checks this when you enter the address. If it says the work cannot be played here yet, check these two things:

  • The site must not send an X-Frame-Options header. If it currently sends DENY or SAMEORIGIN, remove it.
  • If the site sends a Content-Security-Policy header, its frame-ancestors directive must be * or https: (any https site may embed it), or be left out.

Common cases:

  • Static hosts such as Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages and GitHub Pages do not restrict embedding by default, so usually nothing needs to change.
  • Some server frameworks and security middleware add SAMEORIGIN by default (for example Django, Ruby on Rails and Helmet for Node.js). Turn it off in their settings.
  • Afterwards, press Check again on the upload or edit page. For a live work the change takes effect as soon as the check passes, with no new review.

If you would rather your work did not open inside onomeo, untick Allow direct play on onomeo. Visitors then press Play to open your site in a new tab.

Review and its result

Every work is reviewed by hand by the site owner and is not shown to anyone until it is approved. Once approved, it appears in the feed, in the list of all works and on your author page. My works shows the status of each work, and a work with a new review result is marked New.

  • A rejected work carries the reason, and its recording and cover are deleted. You can revise it and submit it again; a work that needs a recording has to be deleted and uploaded again.
  • Editing the title, address or other details of a live work sends it back into review, and it leaves the feed until it is approved again. Switching direct play on or off needs no review.
  • A work that breaks the terms of use may be taken down; the reason is shown in My works as well.
6

Editing and deleting

  • Edit a work:press Edit beside it in My works.
  • Delete a work:press Delete beside it in My works. Its recording and cover are deleted with it and cannot be brought back.
  • Your author details:your name and picture are those of your onomeo account, set on the account page; your X and GitHub links are set in My works, and your author page follows.
  • Delete your account:all your works, recordings and covers are deleted with it and cannot be brought back. How to ask for it is in the privacy policy.
